Truro City Football Club have received and accepted the findings of an independent regulatory commission that has handed Dan Rooney a fine and one-month suspension from playing football.

On June 20, Rooney was charged by the Football Association (FA) with misconduct under FA rule E1 (b), in respect of football related bets.

It was alleged that all the bets placed were a separate breach of FA rule E8 and on June 25, Rooney admitted the charge via a disciplinary proceeding reply form.

In advance of the commission hearing on July 4, as Rooney had admitted the charge, the commission treated this case as proven.

Rooney will be suspended from playing for a period of one month from the start of Truro’s Vanarama National League campaign – Saturday, August 10.

However, he will be able to participate in all of City’s remaining pre-season friendlies and can train whilst suspended.

The club have been, and will be, providing support to Dan regarding this case, although all matters arising will remain strictly confidential to protect the player.

The club will not be making any further comment on this matter and see it as now closed.
