Boss John Askey is calling on his side to make the new Truro City Stadium a fortress, starting with the visit of newly promoted Enfield Town tomorrow – 3.00pm.

After an opening day defeat on home soil to Dorking Wanderers, City have lowered the colours of Maidstone and picked up a useful point at Salisbury on Tuesday, in the side’s last two games.

But the Towners’ visit to Cornwall starts a run of three consecutive home matches with Worthing the opposition on bank holiday Monday and the month’s fixtures are completed on August 31, as Chelmsford City travel to the Duchy.

“It is important that we make the Truro City Stadium a fortress,” Askey told trurocity.co.uk. “Teams have to travel a long distance to get here and we have to ensure that teams don’t go home with anything.

“It is vital to win home games for the supporters and we have to back up two good results on the road. If we can back up those away performances on Saturday against Enfield, that puts us in a good position.”

Enfield have endured a mix start to life at Step Two with a narrow loss to Torquay on the opening day, before a 1-0 win over Weston-super-Mare a week ago. However, the side came back down to earth with a bump after they were thrashed 6-1 on home soil by Slough Town on Tuesday.

“Sometimes you have freak results and they can come about for a number of reasons, added Askey. “You have to be careful, when teams are hurting because of such a result, they don’t take it out on you.

“Enfield were unlucky at Torquay and defeated Weston-super-Mare, so we will not be taking them lightly.

“They came up this year and are finding their feet, but we will just concentrate on ourselves, whilst being mindful of Enfield. We do know, that if we play at our best, we are a handful for teams in this league.”
