Truro City are delighted to announce the appointment of Joe Whittaker as the club’s new first team sports therapist.
Last season, Whittaker, who is based in Cornwall, held a similar role with Southern League Division One South side Tavistock.
Before becoming lead therapist at Langsford Park, Whittaker undertook a one-year internship with Plymouth Argyle, during the Pilgrims’ League One title winning season of 2022-23.
Alongside his duties with City, Whittaker will also be working with Argyle’s academy during the 2024-25 season.
“I had a great season with Tavistock last year and it was my first leading the therapist role at a club,” he told trurocity.co.uk.
“Before that, I had great experience working at Argyle during the season they were League One champions, working alongside some great physios.
“That is how and where I learnt my trade, to work at the highest level of sport. It has given the drive and ambition to get back there and I see this opportunity with Truro City as the perfect way to do that.”
The club would like to place on record its thanks to Ian Leigh, who stepped down from his role as Truro City’s physio at the back end of last season. Also, whilst the club were playing home matches at Gloucester, Johnny Evans and Ellie France, who stepped in to help when Ian was unavailable owing to work commitments.
