Truro City can confirm that the midfielder Dan Sullivan has left the club to take up an employment opportunity overseas.
Sullivan has been a mainstay of the City side for the past two seasons, since re-joining the club in the summer of 2022.
The 29-year-old cut his formative footballing teeth at hometown club Plymouth Argyle, before he joined the Pilgrims’ Devon rivals Torquay United.
He progressed through the ranks at Plainmoor and made his first team debut in August 2013.
Over the next two years, Sullivan made a handful of appearances for the Gulls, whilst spending time on loan at both Bideford and Hereford.
Sullivan left the English Riviera behind in January 2015 and joined Truro City, scoring on his debut off the bench in a victory over Redditch United.
He helped the Tinners win promotion back to National League South before leaving for Bodim Town and then Tavistock.
After staring for the Lambs against Taunton Town in an FA Cup match, Sullivan then moved up the M5 to Somerset and would call Wordsworth Drive home for the next five years.
Once more, the fans favourite linked up with City after calling time on his spell with the Peacocks and success came straight away with another Southern League play-off victory.
Last term, Sullivan made 29 National League South appearances for Truro and scored three goals, with one of those coming in a crucial 3-1 victory over Maidstone United, which secured survival at Step Two for another year.
City’s assistant manager and record goal scorer Stewart Yetton paid tribute to the departing Sullivan and said:
“Hopefully he comes back from overseas with a new hairline, maybe even a fringe.
“But seriously, Sully has been magnificent for the football club and a really big player for us over the past two seasons and during his first spell with Truro too.
“He is well respected, well liked in the dressing room and by everyone at the club too.
“We are sad to see him go, but wish him nothing but good luck and understand that because such a fantastic opportunity has arisen, he has absolutely made the right decision to take it.”
