Truro City Football Club wish to make the following statement regarding the postponed reserve team fixture versus St Day.
This South West Peninsula League Premier West game was scheduled for Wednesday, August 21 and it was set to be the first under floodlights at the Truro City Stadium.
The match referee deemed that the game could not go ahead due to an issue with one floodlight pylon and Truro City respect the referee’s decision.
Remedial works to fix the one floodlight pylon before the game was officially postponed were unsuccessful and the following day (Thursday), the floodlight installer found the problem to be a faulty switch.
Prior to the match, the floodlights had been both commissioned and certified by the floodlight installer.
All four floodlights had been used previously with no issues and they had also been on and tested in the hours leading up to the game.
After rectifying the problem, the floodlight installer has advised the club that they will be providing a full report and conducting a thorough investigation.
The club acknowledges the frustration of supporters that attended the Truro City Stadium although this was a situation that was unforeseen, as everything to ensure that the lights worked correctly had been carried out beforehand.
After dialogue with the South West Peninsula League, the club can advise that the game has been rearranged for Wednesday, October 16 – 7.30pm.
We thank the league and St Day for their understanding of a situation that was out of Truro City’s direct control.
All spectators will be admitted to the rescheduled fixture free of charge.
The club will make no further comment on this matter.
