Just 17 days after signing for Truro City, Jaze Kabia etched himself into Tinners folklore by becoming the first players to score a hat-trick at the TCS.

After playing just 45 minutes in the friendly defeat against Gloucester City, boss John Askey saw enough of in the Irishman to sign him on the eve of the new campaign.

Kabia, who has played in the Scottish Premiership for Livingstone and most recently turned out for Clyde, was named on the bench for the opening day defeat against Dorking.

And in the second game of the season, away to Maidstone United, Kabia announced himself to the City faithful by coming off the bench to score the winner in Kent.

But he eclipsed those accomplishments against Maidstone by scoring three times in 5-0 rout of Worthing on bank holiday Monday.

“As an attacking player, all you want to do is contribute goals and assist the team,” Kabia told trurocity.co.uk. “To score a hat-trick, I don’t think there is a better feeling in a game of football and to know that I am the first player to do it at the new stadium, that is a real privilege.

“My favourite goal of the three was definitely the second. I like the first touch, then the second and the finish. I was then able to celebrate with my family.

“All I want to do is make my family proud and that’s why I play football. I also play for the love of the game, but to have my family at games gives me an extra incentive.

“It was a special day against Worthing and overall, it doesn’t get much better than that.”

He added: “I back myself and I know what I am capable of. The manager has signed me for a reason, so to hit the ground running has been great. I expected to have an impact like this myself, but to show everyone what I can do has been great.”
