City’s third home game in seven days sees Chelmsford City make the trip from Essex to Cornwall, as the opening month of 2024-25 draws to a close.

And Truro will be looking to make it three consecutive wins at the TCS and five games unbeaten overall against Robbie Simpson’s Clarets.

After eight goals for and just one against in their previous two matches, confidence is high in the City camp.

Last time out, John Askey’s charges demolished much-fancied Worthing 5-0 with Jaze Kabia grabbing a fine hat-trick.

The irishman gave City a slender 1-0 interval advantage before the hosts ran riot after the turnaround. Will Dean doubled the lead before Kabia took centre stage to become the first player to claim the matchball at the TCS.

The icing was then put on Truro’s cake 16 minutes from time as Seidou Sanogo netted for a second game in succession.

Worthing’s miserable afternoon was then compounded with a late red card for defender Alfie Young, after he denied Yassine En-Neyah a clear goalscoring opportunity.

In Opposition

Chelmsford travel to the Duchy still looking for their first maximum haul of 24-25 after starting with three draws and two defeats so far from five games.

Manager Robbie Simpson (pictured below) has seen his side draw at the Melbourne Stadium to Hampton & Richmond, Tonbridge Angels and Chippenham Town, with all three games finishing 1-1.

On the road, the Clarets have suffered defeats to Slough Town (2-1) and Weston-super-Mare (2-0).

Last term, Chelmsford finished second in the table behind champions Yeovil, thus guaranteeing  a home play-off semi-final. The side played Braintree and were defeated 3-2 after extra-time by the eventual winners as Jayden Davis scores the winning goal eight minutes into the first additional period.

Last Time We Met

The two teams last faced off in March when Chelmsford travelled to City’s then temporary home of Meadow Park.

Even though the game was played on a Saturday, it kicked off at the unusual time of 7.30pm due to Gloucester facing Boston United at the same ground, earlier in the day.

Chelmsford raced from the traps and pressed ahead after just three minutes thanks to George Alexander’s penalty. But parity was restored shortly after when visiting custodian Henry Gray cleared the ball straight into the body of Tyler Harvey (pictured below) and the ball nestled into the net.

Truro were on the back foot for long spells in the opening stanza and further strikes from Cameron James and Ody Alfa before the break put the visitors in complete control.

Victory was then secured just 10 minutes into the second stanza when Alexander netted his second penalty of the afternoon, to give Chelmsford a deserved 4-1 win.

Sir John’s Thoughts

“We enjoyed the performances over the weekend, but we must move onto the next game, regardless of how we won the previous one.

“We are all getting used to the new ground and with every game, the fans are getting louder.

“Hopefully if we keep doing the business on the pitch, the fans will keep coming and then we can get even better gates.
