The second of three home matches in the a seven day spell sees beaten play-off finalists Worthing travel to the Duchy on bank holiday Monday – 3.00pm.

The Tinners will go into this match full of confidence after a history-making first ever win at the Truro City Stadium yesterday, as Enfield Town were defeated 3-1.

On a blustery but dry afternoon in the Duchy, City had early chances through Tyler Harvey and Jaze Kabia. Conditions hampered both sides in the first 45, but Michael Folivi scored just before the break with a fine effort.

But after the break, City were much-improved and Seido Sanogo netted a fine leveller with an outrageous backheel. The it was the Tyler Harvey show as he scored twice to seal a deserved Truro win.

In Opposition

Worthing will be hoping that the hangover from losing the play-off final to Braintree in dramtic circumstances, will not last too long into this coming campaign.

And Chris Agutter’s side have started the season in solid, if unspectacular fashion. A dramatic opening day saw the Rebels lower the colours of Weston-super-Mare in a Somerset thriller, with the visitors prevailing 4-3.

In the side’s next game, they were held 2-2 by Slough Town at Clarence Park. Jack Spong had put Worthing 2-1 ahead mid-way through the second half, but they were pegged back and the spoils were shared.

Worthing’s most recent encounter saw the side travel to Hemel Hempstead Town with Spong rescuing a point with a 97th minute equaliser, as the teams finished all-square at 1-1.

Last Time We Met

City last faced off with the Rebels in January 2024, with the game played in Devon, whilst the TCS was under construction.

On a difficult playing surface, Truro took the lead after 30 minutes through Tyler Harvey. It was a lead City held as the interval approached, but Cashman’s goal levelled things up before half-time.

And after the turnaround, Ollie Pearce bagged a brace and with Cashman equalling that feat, Worthing were 4-1 winners.

Yetton’s Yarn

“Worthing are a really tough side and you don’t get any easy games at this level.

We know they will be very fit and last year at home, when we played them at Parkway, they gave us a bit of a schooling so we know what they are all about.

“Whoever the opposition are though, it should be another great game and a great day for the fans on Monday.”
