After a week without a game owing to Boreham Wood’s involvement in the Emirates FA Cup, City are back to it tomorrow (Saturday) with a home match against Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Truro currently find themselves in the final play-off place, dropping two places after their inactivity last weekend.

However, with the upper echelons of the table very tight, City can hoist themselves back towards the top of the table with a positive result against the mid-table Beavers.

Last time out, City toppled then unbeaten league leaders Hemel Hempstead Town at the TCS. Jaze Kabia’s sixth goal of the season settled proceedings in favour of John Askey’s side, who duly completed a well-deserved 1-0 triumph.

In Opposition

Hampton & Richmond arrive in the Duchy currently occupying 15th position in the National League South standings.

On the road, Alan Julian (pictured below) has seen his side pick up just one victory – away to current basement dwellers Weymouth.

However, the Beavers have only tasted defeat once, going down to a 1-0 loss at Bath City back in late August.

The side have picked up three draws on the road with the last of those coming in their most recent away match, against Tonbridge Angels, who City will face off against at the TCS next Saturday.

The spoils were shared 2-2 and two subsequent home matches have resulted in 1-0 reverses for Julian’s troops.

Hampton were sunk by Torquay United, now managed by former City boss Paul Wotton, and last time out, Julian’s charges had their colours lowered by struggling St Albans City.

Last Time We Met

The two teams last met in February, at the Beveree Stadium, with the hosts prevailing 2-1, despite playing much of the second half with 10 men.

Tope Fadahunsi put Hampton ahead after 12 minutes and it was a 1-0 lead the home side would hold going into the interval.

But an inspired substitution by Truro at the interval saw recent loan capture Ollie Bray thrust into the fray. On loan from Step One side Aldershot, Bray scored with his first touch in a City shirt less than 60 seconds after the restart.

It got even better for the Tinners after 49 minutes when Ruaridh Donaldson was shown a straight red card for violent conduct, after he lashed out at Connor Riley-Lowe.

But City couldn’t make their man advantage count and as time ticked down, Issac Pitblado scored the winning goal for the Beavers.

Sir John Speaks

“Throughout any season, you will have ups and downs but at the moment, everyone is feeling good without getting too carried away.

“But overall, we are in a good position and if we win our game in hand, we are level top of the table. Everything is going well, although it is still very early days.

“We have some tough fixtures coming up, so we will probably get a clearer indication of where we are in a few weeks’ time.

“Before the Hemel game, I was aware that they hadn’t lost, but I knew that if we were at it on the day, we would have more than enough to win. It was a good performance from start to finish even in those conditions.

“We dominated the game and they didn’t cause us any problems. We controlled the game and handled the conditions really well, because they could have played a huge part in the result.”
