After two mammoth trips to Welling and Boreham Wood, City’s third consecutive away match takes the side to the English Riviera.

Fate was always going to pair Truro against the Gulls with the side also travelling to Plainmoor on New Years Day.

The victors will secure £3750 in prize money, along with a place in the hat for Monday’s third round draw.

Both sides come into the game in decent league form with both occupying a place in the play-offs.

City have tasted defeat just once in eight National League South games since early September, while Torquay are yet to taste defeat on home soil this term.

There is no parking available at the ground.

However, there is plenty of street parking close by, with fans reminded to park courteously and respectively towards local residents.

The nearest train station to Plainmoor is Torre, which is approximately 25 minute walk from the ground.

The Ground

Plainmoor is a stadium that, in recent years, has hosted EFL games in both League 1 and 2, before Torquay tumbled out of the Football League in 2014.

Shortly before the Gulls’ relegation, the club constructed a new main stand, an impressive single tiered structure, which is elevated and accessible by steps.

It is named Bristow’s Bench, to honour former club benefactor Paul Bristow, who became vice-chairman in the early Millennium years. He became a millionaire, after winning the lottery.

Bristow died in 2010 from a suspected heart attack, with the club posthumously honouring his memory.

Opposite Bristow’s bench is the Popular Terrace, which is affectionally known as the ‘Pop Side’ by Torquay fans.

It is a shallow terrace that hosts the more vocal home supporters, although the structure has an unusual look, with a television gantry situated above the terrace.

Continuing with the curious make up of Plainmoor, behind one goal is a seated terrace, which is the family enclosure.

It has all the hospitality facilities and boxes at the back of the seats, with it rare to see such amenities behind a goal.

The traditional away end at Plainmoor is a covered terrace, similar in size and make up to the Pop Stand. However, this stand is only opened if the number of travelling fans is sufficient.

City fans will be situated in the first two blocks of Bristow’s Bench, with 500 seats available for visiting fans.

Outside the ground, Plainmoor’s sports bar ‘Boots and Laces’ will be open and is welcoming to visiting fans.
