City are back on home soil for the first time since Bonfire Night tomorrow as John Askey’s side take on 10th placed Chesham United.

The Tinners will be looking to preserve an unbeaten National League South record at the Truro City Stadium, which stretches back to September 7.

Eastbourne Borough were the last side to lower the colours of City in the Duchy when league points were up for grabs and since then, victories have been recorded over Hemel Hempstead Town, Hampton & Richmond and Tonbridge Angels.

The side’s last game at home resulted in a 1-1 draw with Chippenham Town thanks to Billy Palfrey’s stoppage time leveller.

In Opposition

The Generals were winners of the Southern League Premier Division South in 23-24, finishing nine points clear of AFC Totton, who were beaten in the play-off final by Salisbury.

And Chesham have made a solid start to life in National League South, with the side currently unbeaten away from the Meadow. They reached the first round of the FA Cup after an impressive fourth qualifying round win over Yeovil Town.

It was a plum tie in the first round proper, with Lincoln City the opposition. The game was televised, giving the Generals’ coffers an early season boost, but the Imps prevailed 4-0.

In the FA Trophy, Chesham are through to the third round after a 2-0 win over division rivals Chippenham Town, with leading scorer Nathan Minhas (pictured below) scoring twice. The draw has paired James Duncan and Michael Murray’s side with another National League South side in the shape of Salisbury.

Last Time We Met

Chesham last faced the Tinners in February 2023, with both sides chasing promotion out of the Southern League.

The Generals travelled to City’s temporary home of Bolitho Park and took the lead after 37 minutes through Karl Olyide.

It looked like all three points would be heading back to Buckinghamshire until Truro scored three times in the final 17 minutes.

Dan Sullivan restored parity before Tyler Harvey took centre stage as time ticked down. He bagged a brace as time ticked down for Truro, who prevailed 3-1.

Bits and Pieces

Ahead of tomorrow’s game against the Generals, club historian Matt Hall has been looking back at past encounters between the two sides:

We’ve played Chesham United ten times in the league – although this doesn’t include any games from the two covid-19 affected seasons, which were declared null and void.

This will be the first time we’ve faced Chesham at National League South level. Every other game has been at Step Three – Southern League Premier/Southern League Premier South

We’ve scored 12 goals against Chesham in all league games (home and away) and naturally, Tyler Harvey holds the record for most goals against them with five.
