The Match

Table topping Truro City are back on home soil for the first time since November 23, with Maidstone United the opponents for John Askey’s side.

Owing to an early FA Trophy exit, City did not play over the weekend of December 7, with the team’s last outing was at fellow high fliers Dorking Wanderers on November 30.

A closely fought affair saw neither side able to gain a real foothold in proceedings, although Truro had the better of the chances. Connor Riley-Lowe poked narrowly wide in the closing moments of the first half, while Tyler Harvey was denied by a brilliant save from home custodian Harrison Folks, seven minutes from time.

Despite finishing the game on the front foot, Truro could not find an all-important winning goal and the points were shared after a 0-0 stalemate.

In Opposition

Maidstone will travel to the Duchy boasting a fine away record away from the Gallagher Stadium.

George Elokobi (pictured below) has yet to see his side taste defeat on the road in National League South during 2024-25. However, the Stones sit three places outside the play-off berths in tenth, due to the amount of games they have drawn.

It is nine in total for Elokobi’s troops with five coming away from home. Despite being the league’s draw specialists, Maidstone have tasted defeat just three times and along with City’s Devon rivals Torquay United, it is the least number of times a teams colours have been lowered.

Last time out, Maidstone eased aside Aveley 3-0 at Parkside. The struggling Essex outfit were undone by goals from  Matt Rush, George Fowler and Matt Bentley.

Last Time We Met

City travelled to the Gallagher Stadium back in August. Jaze Kabia’s first goal in Truro colours late in the piece handed John Askey’s side a 2-1 win.
