trurocity.co.uk sat down with Somerset based journalist Mark Stillman to give his thoughts on Saturday’s match between the Tinners and Romans.

Mark is part of the Bath City media team and commentates for BBC Radio Bristol and BBC Radio Somerset. He also works for the Non-League Paper and Bath Live.

Firstly, Mark, give us an overview of Bath City’s season to date…

One look at the league table highlights it’s not gone as well as hoped. Losing key players in the summer, three of them to Torquay United including ex-Tinner Cody Cooke, had a huge impact.

A dreadful run across October and November saw the end of Jerry Gill’s long reign and things have steadied since under Lee Kendall and now Darren Way.

One defeat in six is commendable and we’ve kept a settled side, fielding the exact same starting XI across the last five games.

We’ve not hit the heights of last season’s play-off campaign but the general mood across the club appears good and hopefully we’ll have a strong finish.

Looking on from afar, how about Truro City’s 2024-25 campaign?

On paper it looks excellent. The buzz from moving back to the county has worked wonders and record breaking attendances have clearly helped urge the team on.

There’s a clear togetherness – I know it’s a squad that’s small in number but high on quality – and a never-say-die mantra with a league high points won from losing positions.

From the outside it looks like a good time to support the Tinners, with last week’s defeat a rare blip.

Who do you feel Bath’s danger man could be on Saturday?

Jordan Alves has stepped up two levels and having started as a bit-part player, he’s been a regular since the change of management and has eight goals in all competitions, all since October, and two in his last two.

One of our key players from last season, Ewan Clark, has just recovered from injury, and has lifted the crowd with two recent cameo appearances.

Scott Wilson is closing in as our all-time leading scorer at this level and he’s now reunited with Brad Ash, having excelled together at Weston-super-Mare nearly a decade ago.

While you can’t really label defensive players as ‘dangerous’, 10 clean sheets is a decent return and goalkeeper Harvey Wiles-Richards, man-of-the-match in the game between these two at Twerton, has rarely let the side down. Centre-back Ollie Tomlinson has recently signed until the end of next season which is another plus.

Who do you fear in Truro’s squad?

Tyler Harvey stands out.

Ironically he made his Bath City debut against Truro in March 2016, the last time we lost in this fixture.

He’s scored in three 1-1 draws for Truro against us since and is a handful. There are a few ex-Romans to watch out for in Connor Riley-Lowe, Ben Adelsbury, Dan Rooney and Zac Bell, while the suspended Will Dean was also with us briefly.
