The Match
Truro City head to Longmead Stadium in National League South on Saturday searching for a first ever win over Tonbridge on Kent soil.
The Angels currently occupy a top 10 and in their last match, were defeated in the dying embers by league leaders Dorking Wanderers, as Rhys Murphy’s strike sealed a 1-0 win for the Surrey outfit.
For City, in their last clash, John Askey’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Farnborough at the TCS. In bitterly cold conditions, City dominated the opening period and took a deserved lead into the interval after Jaze Kabia netted four minutes shy of the turnaround.
In the second stanza, City couldn’t force home a second goal that their dominance merited and with time ticking down, on-loan striker Jonny Suttle finished well past Dan Lavercombe to ensure the spoils were shared.

In Opposition
Tonbridge are 10 points Truro City, who occupy the final play-off spot in National League South.
Along with Weston-super-Mare and Hampton & Richmond, the Angels lead the chasing pack looking to force themselves into the promotion picture although an inconsistent start to the new calendar year means the leading seven teams have a healthy points cushion over the rest.

So far in 2025, Jay Saunders’ side have picked up just two victories against Weston (2-0) and Slough Town (2-1). Clashes with Hornchurch, St Albans and Chippenham have resulted in draws, whilst Dorking, Hampton & Richmond, Worthing and Eastbourne (twice) have lowered the colours of Saunders’ charges.
In Tonbridge’s last home match, they were defeated 2-1 by City’s fellow promotion chasers Worthing.
Yetton’s Yarn
City’s assistant boss Stewart Yetton looks ahead to tomorrow’s game:
“It is never easy going away to teams that play on a 3G as it is advantageous playing on an artificial surface for the home team.
They are tough to play against at home on the 3G.
“It can be difficult for away teams and especially at Tonbridge, because they will set up to make things very difficult for us, but we look forward to it.”

Last Time We Met
City faced Tonbridge at the TCS with the Tinners leaving it late to secure all three points.
Tyler Harvey’s first half penalty put City ahead but Tonbridge hit back through Noel Leighton. And it looked like the Angels would take a point back to TR10 but Jaze Kabia had other ideas.
Rocky Neal’s pin-point through ball was seized upon by Kabia who finished with aplomb to seal a 2-1 victory for the hosts.
