The Match
The first of two home games in four days sees Truro City lock horns with mid-table Slough Town at the TCS – 3.00pm.
John Askey’s side come into their first Saturday home encounter since February 1, on the back of a fine single goal triumph over Tonbridge Angels last time out.
Will Dean’s 15th minute strike settled the match in City’s favour with the visitors never really looking in trouble against their Kent hosts. Indeed, after Sean Shields had fashioned Tonbridge’s only effort of note, just shy of the hour mark, Jaze Kabia was denied at the other end by home custodian Matt Rowley.
And as time ticked down, Tom Harrison headed narrowly over as City held on comfortably and with results elsewhere going their way, Askey’s charges moved up to sixth in the Vanarama National League South standings.
In Opposition
Despite their seemingly lowly standing in the table, Slough Town will travel to the Duchy on the back of recent wins over City’s fellow promotion rivals Maidstone United and Worthing.
New signing Edon Pruti scored the only goal of the game against the Stones while player boss Scott Davies, Slavi Spasov (2) and John Gilbert’s single strike ensured Worthing headed back to Sussex smarting, after a 4-0 reverse.
However, Slough’s season is perhaps summed up by the fact that the game sandwiched between those two victories saw Davies’ troops suffer a 1-0 reverse at relegation threatened St Albans City.
“I truly believe we’re as good as anyone in this league on our day,” Davies – pictured below – told the Maidenhead Advertiser. “To do it consistently over 46 games takes a lot of doing. For a club like ours to keep up with the pace of the big teams is a difficult thing to achieve.
“If we can finish 10th or better, I’d be over the moon. I know we could still finish 18/19th but I want to set our sights on finishing ninth or 10th if we can. I don’t want to take a backward step from last season.
“We know who we are and what we are, but we’ll try and fight against the grain to do that.”

Last Time We Met
City travelled to Arbour Park back in early November, with Jaze Kabia’s deadlock breaker cancelled out by Slavi Spasov equaliser as time ticked down.
