The Match

City host relegation threatened Weymouth at the TCS tomorrow evening in National League South – 7.45pm.

The Tinners currently occupy fifth place in the table while Weymouth prop up the rest. Truro moved up a place in the  standings with a 2-0 win over Slough Town last time out, thanks to goals from Connor Riley-Lowe and Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain.

It was a deserved three points for City who had chances after the turnaround to make the margin of victory much wider. And in the opening stanza, which was much more even, Dan Lavercombe made a brilliant save from the Rebels’ leading scorer Slavi Spasov, when the score was just 1-0.

In Opposition

Despite their lowly league position, which sees Weymouth 10 points from safety, their most recent match, against fellow strugglers Aveley, has given the Bob Lucas Stadium faithful a glimmer of hope that they can pull off a late season Houdini act.

A poor record at home record with just two wins all season in Dorset, has been the root cause of Weymouth’s troubles, but goals from Malachi Lincoln, Jake McCarthy and Brandon Goodship gave Warren Feeney’s side a 3-1 win over the Millers.

Feeney (pictured below) is Weymouth’s second manager of the campaign although he has been unable to turn the side’s fortunes around.

The former Northern Ireland international, succeeded Mark Molesley shortly after City had thrashed Weymouth 4-1 at the Bob Lucas back in November.

Since taking over, Feeney, who like Molesley can count AFGC Bournemouth as one of his former clubs, has led the Terras to the aforementioned win over Aveley and a 5-1 triumph against Welling United.
