Truro City youngster Liam Higgins is part of the England Schoolboys under-18 side, competing in the 2025 Schools’ Association Football International Board (SAFIB) Centenary Shield.

England began their campaign recently against Scotland, in a game that took place at Cappielow Park, home of Grenock Morton. Higgins, who began the match as a substitute, entered the fray in the second stanza and scored, as the home side were victorious.

Higgins, who has been a regular for City’s reserve team in the South West Peninsula League this term, becomes the first Cornish player to reach the final England squad since Josh Storey did likewise in 2019.

And City fans have the opportunity to see Higgins and his England team mates when they face Northern Ireland at the TCS next Friday, March 14.

“I am looking forward to seeing Liam walking out at the TCS next month,” enthused City’s first team manager John Askey.

“I hope the whole of Cornwall gets behind Liam and shows their support by coming to the game. Liam is one of Cornwalls most exciting young players, one I have been watching since he appeared in several first team friendlies during pre-season”
