Webby, as he’s affectionately known to everyone here at the TCS, cut his formative footballing teeth aged seven, playing for Trelander Rovers, run by his father.

Playing alongside his brothers Tony and David, Webby was also a team mate to Cornish rugby legend Grant Champion, who was part of Cornwall’s famous 1991 County Championship winning team.

After Telander came Truro Minors and then onto the City first team as a teenager. And what a baptism of fire it was for Webby, coming up against some of Cornwall’s finest players of that era like Dave Street.

He was part of the double winning side of 1992-93, as Truro won both the South Western League and South Western League Cup. Webby came off the bench in the final against Falmouth, played at Porthleven’s Gala Parc, to score in a 4-1 triumph.

Webby also has a Cornwall Senior Cup winners medal and a second South Western League title to his name, but his association with City continued after his playing days were over.

He managed City for a spell in the early Millennium years before becoming director of football and then chairman.

Webby will be formally inducted into the Hall of Fame before the Good Friday game against Torquay United.
