Truro City is delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Lirak Hasani ahead of the 2025-26 National League campaign.
The 23-year-old left National League South side Torquay United and due to his age, Truro will pay a compensation fee to the Step Two Gulls. This figure has been agreed between the two clubs and Truro City wish to place on record its thanks to Torquay United for their cooperation regarding this matter.
Hasani was born to Kosovan parents in South Yorkshire and came through the ranks at Doncaster Rovers, making his first team debut as a teenager in March 2019.
He enjoyed loan spells at Gateshead, Matlock Town and Bashford United before joining the former on a permanent deal in 2022.
Hasani spent two years in the North East, but his time with the Heed included further loan spells, this time to Boston United, South Shields and Blyth Spartans.
Twelve months ago, Hasani left Gateshead and moved south to Torquay United, where he played a lead hand in the Gulls’ promotion bid, which saw the Devonians miss out on the league title by goal difference to City, before losing in the play-offs to eventual winners Boreham Wood.
“I’m excited as I was in the National League before with Gateshead,” Hasani told trurocity.co.uk. “I’m familiar already with the league and it was a goal of mine to get back in there, so I’m buzzing to do it for this upcoming season.
“This is a good opportunity to test myself with this team and it is the same for Truro themselves, in the National League.
“I played against Truro last year and they pressed really well and it was always a tough game. Knowing that, the decision to sign here was made easy because the team are aggressive and play on the front foot – something that every player wants to be involved with.”
He added: “I have a willingness to win and have an endeavour to press and run. I love to play with the ball and score goals, so the fans will see anything that helps the team to win.”
