Truro City will once again break the English football record for the longest away trip for a competitive fixture when the Tinners face Gateshead tomorrow (Saturday) – 3.00pm.
Our latest Enterprise National League fixture will take place at the Gateshead International Stadium (GIS), a multi-purpose venue that can host football, rugby league and athletics.
In fact, Truro City won;t be the first Cornish sporting entity to represent the Duchy at this venue.
The now defunct Cornwall RLFC faced Newcastle Thunder at the GIS last July, with the Choughs prevailing 44-34 – their final away win before folding earlier this year.
The journey for Truro eclipses the 890 miles that the side travelled last month when facing Carlisle United at Brunton Park.
Directions

Parking
Because of the stadium’s multi-function use, there are a number of car parks within the stadium grounds.
However, all three are not large and although they are allocated on a first come, first served basis, even for games with less than a four figure attendance, they do fill up pretty quickly.
The stadium ios situated around a mixture of business parks and residential areas and because it is a Saturday fixture, supporters are advised to check restrictions before parking in these areas.
And, as our travelling fans always do, please respect local residents and business owners by parking responsibly and courteously if using areas surrounding the stadium.
Free Drink Giveaway
With thanks to the National League’s broadcast partner DAZN and The Non-League Paper the first 100 City fans to show their allegiance to Truro at the Fog on the Tyne public house, will be able to claim a free pint.
Tickets
The GIS holds close to 12,000 which is more than adequate for Gateshead’s crowds – the club averaged 1,404 last term, significantly less than City’s gates whilst playing at a level below.
Gateshead seem to chop and change the location for away fans with travelling support sometimes placed in the East Stand which is seated but uncovered.
But for this record breaking fixture, City have been allocated covered seating in the Tyne & Wear Stand, which is all-seated and covered, with no supporting pillars blocking any view.
Travelling Tinners will be situated in a segregated area of this part of the ground, entry is via turnstiles one and two.
