After two games away from the Truro City Stadium, the Tinners are back in action at TR4 this afternoon with a first-ever clash against Enfield Town.

City’s long trips to Maidstone United and then on Tuesday night to Salisbury, were not without reward as four points were gained.

Looking to build on a fine 2-1 over the Stones, Truro travelled to Wiltshire to face newly promoted Salisbury and took the lead inside 50 seconds, when Ryan Law finished on the half volley with his left foot.

Against a toothless home side, City should have doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time, but Sam Sanders could only head over when free in the box.

After the interval, Truro continued to dominate but in a rare foray forward 19 minutes from time, striker Craig Fasanmade tumbled in the box under pressure from Tom Harrison (pictured above).

Referee Neil Pratt pointed to the spot and Josh Hedges stepped up to dispatch to restore parity for the hosts.

City found another gear in the closing stages with Jaze, Kabia, Tylor Love-Holmes and Tyler Harvey all forcing home custodian David Aziaya into fine saves. And in the dying embers, Seidou Sanogo (pictured above) was fouled in the box but no penalty was given.

In Opposition

For a second consecutive game, Truro face one of the newly promoted sides in National League South.

It is also the first time City and the Towners have faced each other in a fixture of any kind.

The club have only been in existence for 23 years after breaking away from the original Enfield Football Club over a lack of confidence in the board at the time, which had sold the club’s Southbury Road ground.

The newly-formed club initially ground shared with Brimsdown Rovers before moving into the Queen Elizabeth II Stadium in 2011.

A steady rise up the pyramid has ensued for the Towners and that culminated with elevation to Step Two last term after an Isthmian Premier play-off final win over Chatham Town.

So far this season, Enfield’s results have been mixed and very akin to a side still acclimatising to a new division with a narrow loss against Torquay on the opening day, followed by a 1-0 win over Weston-super-Mare seven days ago.

But it was back down to earth with a bump for Gavin McPherson’s charges last tiem out as they were thrashed 6-1 on home soil by Slough Town.

Last Time We Met

This is the first-ever meeting between Truro City and Enfield Town.

Sir John’s Thoughts

“It is important that we make the Truro City Stadium a fortress.

“Teams have to travel a long distance to get here and we have to ensure that teams don’t go home with anything.

“It is vital to win home games for the supporters and we have to back up two good results on the road. If we can back up those away performances on Saturday against Enfield, that puts us in a good position.”
