Truro City’s Enterprise National League fixture, scheduled for today, has been postponed by the match referee due to a frozen pitch.
Despite the best efforts of the home ground staff, including frost covers being in place covering potentially problematic areas since their previous match against Sutton United on Tuesday, freezing overnight temperatures have resulted in the pitch being unplayable.
As communicated yesterday by all parties, with the pitch playable on Friday following a pitch inspection, the home club remained in dialogue with both the match referee, who determined the pitch inspection would take place at midday on Saturday, and Truro City, after we had travelled and wanted to give the game every chance of going ahead.
However, following an inspection on Saturday afternoon, the referee deemed some areas of the Roots Hall surface unsafe due to freezing overnight temperatures.
Southend United have apologised for any inconvenience caused to all supporters and a rearranged date for the game will be confirmed in due course.
