Truro City are delighted to announce the signing of free agent Scott Burgess, on non-contract terms.

The 27-year-old midfielder has been without a club since leaving York City in the summer and previously, he has gained EFL experience with Bury and Port Vale.

Burgess is no stranger to current Tinners boss Askey having made 31 appearances for Macclesfield Town in 2017-18, on loan from Bury.

Askey was in charge of the Silkmen at the time and a year later, took Burgess to Port Vale after he swapped Moss Rose for the Potteries.

After leaving Port Vale, Burgess was part of the Grimsby Town side which gained their Football League place again during 2021-22.

He left Blundell Park and reunited with Askey at York and last season, spent time on loan at Kidderminster Harriers.

“I worked with the gaffer before a few times over my career,” Burgess told truurocity.co.uk. “We know each other very well and I have played a lot of games under him and that was a big factor in me joining Truro.

“I’d like to think that I am midfielder that creates things and I can chip in with the odd goal here and there too. I will bring lots of energy to the middle of the pitch and I have played a lot of National League games.

“They are tough leagues with lots of teams battling for only a couple of promotion places so my experience at this level is something that I can hopefully bring to this club.”
