Truro City are back in action for the first time in 14 days, with a mouth-watering home match against National League South table toppers Hemel Hempstead Town.
John Askey’s side currently occupy sixth place in the standings after a fine start to the campaign. The Tinners’ last match came on the road at Aveley with the near 600-mile round trip to Essex very much worth it after a 2-1 win.
Jaze Kabia bagged his fifth goal of the season after 34 minutes to give City the lead but right on the stroke of half-time, a contentious penalty award was subsequently converted by Charlee Hughes.
The second stanza was dominated by Truro and 11 minutes from time, leading scorer Tyler Harvey planted a magnificent header past overworked home custodian Carey Bloedorn.
In Opposition
Hemel Hempstead arrive in the Duchy looking down at the rest as the Tudors have made a fine start to 2024-25.
The Tudors’ excellent run of form has been underpinned by their form on the road which has seen Bobby Wilkinson’s side return a 100 per cent record.
Four games have resulted in four victories with five goals scored and none conceded.
On home soil, Hemel have played five games and but for three of those resulting in draws, Wilkinson’s charges would be further ahead in the standings.
The former Weymouth boss left the Dorset outfit just as the 2023-24 term was drawing to a close after a tumultuous season, which resulted in Brad Quinton losing his job in the new year, replaced on an interim basis by Alan Dowson, who himself was relieved of his duties by Dartford.
It proved to be a shrewd appointment by the Tudors however, as Dowson led the side to safety, before he made way for Wilkinson.
Last Time We Met
The two teams last locked horns in April, in a game that took place at City’s temporary home of Meadow Park, Gloucester.
In a tight affair, goals in each half from Josh Hill and George Williams saw the Tudors prevail 2-0.
Late on, both side had a player sent off by referee Harry Jones, for nothing more than a coming together. Tom Harrison was the Truro man sent for an early bath, while he was followed by Aidan Elliott-Wheeler.

“We are playing the team at the top of the league and with our position in mind, it feels like a vital game.
I know it is still early in the season, but if we can get a result on Saturday, it will show that we can compete with anyone in the league.
“You always want to win your home games and Hemel are unbeaten, so a good result will show we can be contenders.
“But every game is different and all we can do is put everything into Saturday at 3.00pm. If we get a result then that would be great, but if we don’t, we just move onto the next fixture.”
