Truro City face their first return fixture of the 2024-25 season when they travel to Meadowbank to face Dorking Wanderers – 3.00pm.
This is the eighth and final match for John Askey’s side in November, with six of those taking place away from the Truro City Stadium.
But City’s fine early season form has continued with the side currently leading the way in National League South. Their last match came at a rain-lashed Bob Lucas Stadium on Tuesday, with Weymouth thrashed 4-1 thanks to a fine Tyler Harvey hat-trick, while Jaze Kabia kept up his fantastic run with the opener.
Jake McCarthy did grab a consolation for the Terras, who parted company with manager Mark Molesley just a day later, before Charlie Rowan was sent off for picking up a second yellow card.
In Opposition
Wanderers currently occupy fifth place in the National League South standings on 33 points – four behind City at the top although the Surrey outfit have played a game more than Truro.
One thing you can guarantee from Dorking is goals with Wanderers’ league games resulted in the net bulging an astonishing 72 times. Well clear of Slough (34), Weston-super-Mare (33) and City (33), Dorking have scored 42 times but at the other end, Marc White (pictured below) has seen his side concede 30 times.
Their goal difference of +12 is four behind City, who lead the way with +16 but after an inconsistent opening to the campaign, White’s charges really clicked into gear last time out.
They travelled to Hemel Hempstead Town and thrashed the Tudors 7-1 to send Bobby Wilkinson’s charges tumbling down the league table.
Last Time We Met
Dorking will go down in history as the Tinners first ever opponents at the newly constructed Truro City Stadium.
The game, which opened both side’s National League South campaigns, was played out in front of a then stadium record crowd at the TCS of 2,676.
After a farcical opening to proceedings, with both sides taking to the field in similar stripes, Dorking left the field and returned with their shirts turned inside out.
After a five minute delay, the game restarted and Dorking took an early lead through Jimmy Muitt’s header. The visitors dominated the ball during the opening half but as time wore on, City grew into the game and after debutant Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain went close, Tyler Harvey (pictured below) restored parity before the break.
After half time, Charlie Carter put Dorking back into the lead and despite City being the side to enjoy a greater share of possession and territory, it was Dorking that came away with a 2-1 win.
