The Match
Fourth place Truro City travel to Hemel Hempstead Town looking for a win to keep tabs on the teams above them, in a very congested Vanarama National League South table.
The Tudors meanwhile, are marooned in no man’s land – 11 points clear of the drop zone, but 14 shy of Dorking Wanderers, who occupy the final play-off place.
For City, they will be searching for a first win on the road this calendar year after a narrow 1-0 loss at Torquay United was followed by a battling 0-0 draw with Eastbourne Borough on January 11.
Sandwiched between those two results are two 2-1 home victories over Hornchurch and Aveley respectively.
Last time out, the Tinners had to come from behind to defeat the lowly Millers. The Essex visitors had the better chances during the opening stanza but after the break, City were much improved.
However, against the run of the play, Brooklyn Kabongolo headed Aveley ahead just shy of the hour mark.
But the lead lasted less than 90 seconds as Tyler Harvey (pictured below) bagged his 15th of the season after a Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain long throw caused havoc in the Aveley box.
City then repeated the dose inside the final 20 minutes with Oxlade-Chamberlain claiming another assist as Tom Harrison was credited with the final touch.
In Opposition
Before their trip to the Duchy on October 5, everything was going rather well for Hemel Hempstead Town.
The Tudors, who battled relegation last term, had raced from the traps, were unbeaten and looking down at the rest in National League South.
In a game dominated by Truro, Jaze Kabia’s goal early in the piece was enough for Truro to claim all three points and this triggered a collapse in form with just one point picked up in 12 games.
Two heavy defeats against Dorking (7-0) and Salisbury (5-0) saw then manager Bobby Wilkinson leave the club and Lee Allison was appointed as his successor.
This appointment appears to have the desired effect, too, with the former Hendon chief winning three of his five games in charge. The other two have seen the Tudors suffer narrow 1-0 defeats at Torquay and Chesham.
The side’s last two games have both resulted in maximum hauls as Slough were thrashed 4-1 while Farnborough has their colours lowered by a single goal at Cherrywood Road.
