The Match
Truro City face Welling United with both sides needing the points for very different reasons.
In the most enthralling and keenly contested promotion race in England football entering its home straight, the Tinners know a win, coupled with results elsewhere going their way, could see John Askey’s charges top the pile come 4.45pm.
However, Welling are scrapping for their lives at the bottom and will be desperate for a win, to pull clear of the relegation trap door, which for the Wings would be into the Isthmian League.
City’s last match saw the side defeat Boreham Wood under the TCS lights. Connor Riley-Lowe had the best chance of the opening half when he stung the palms of visiting custodian Nathan Ashmore.
And after the turnaround, Ashmore was back in the thick of the action, saving Zac Bell’s angled effort across the face of goal.
Eventually, City broke the deadlock after 66 minuets when Dom Johnson-Fisher set up Luke Jephcott, who fired into the bottom corner with pin-point accuracy.
The win was seemingly wrapped up inside the final 10 minutes when Jaze Kabia profited on a defensive mishap to fire past an out of position Ashmore.
But Wood pulled a goal back almost immediately through Chris Bush and despite there being seven minutes of stoppage time, City prevailed 2-1.

In Opposition
Welling arrive in TR4 hovering just one place above the National League South relegation zone. With Aveley and Weymouth seemingly cut adrift from the rest, it looks like two from three of Welling, St Albans and Enfield who will also face the drop.
St Albans have a game in hand over both their relegation rivals while Enfield have a vastly inferior goal difference.
The Wings were held to a 2-2 draw on home soil last time out against Slough Town. It was very much a case of two points dropped for Rod Stringer’s side after they blew a 2-0 interval lead.
Josh Kashket fired a quick-fire brace just shy of the half hour mark, but goals from Josh Jackman and Jonny Goddard rescued a point for Scott Davies’ Rebels.
Recently, Welling surprisingly dispensed with the services of Stringer’s trusty sidekick Kevin Watson, with the former Tottenham midfielder replaced in the Park View Road dugout by Colin Reid.
Last Time We Met
City picked up their first ever win over the Wings at Park View Road over Remembrance Weekend.
Zain Walker’s deflected effort put the hosts ahead before goals from Jaze Kabia and Tom Harrison put Truro in charge before the break.
After the turnaround, Dave Winfield was sent off for a second yellow card as City saw the game out for a comfortable 2-1 victory.
