The Match
City travel to the capital to take on Enfield Town, with both clubs needing three points for very differing reasons.
The visitors are searching for a fifth consecutive win whilst for Gavin Macpherson’s side, who have dragged themselves out of the relegation zone in recent weeks, know victory will further strengthen their survival quest.
Truro travel to EN1 on the back of another fine performance on the road at Chippenham Town on Tuesday evening.
However, John Askey’s side didn’t have it all their own way at Hardenhuish Park, with the Bluebirds spurring a handful of presentable opportunities in the opening 20 minutes. The Wiltshire outfit also found City stopper Dan Lavercombe in inspired form.
And as the half wore on, City gained a foothold in the match and after the turnaround, playing down the slope, they seized control.
Two quick-fire Tyler Harvey goals, coupled with an exquisite Luke Jephcott lob gave City a 3-0 lead before the hour mark. Further chances came and went for the Tinners, with Chippenham offering very little at the other end.
Coupled with a late equaliser for Maidstone in their home match against Dorking, City moved up a place in the standings and they are just a single point behind league leaders Worthing.

In Opposition
Enfield boss Gavin Macpherson says that he took ‘no notice’ of premature predictions from others, that his side were doomed to an instant Step Three return.
Struggling in the relegation zone and very much staring down the barrel of just a solitary season in National League South, the Towners, went six unbeaten in January and February, picking up four successive wins along the way.
And despite their improved form being abruptly ended by a 5-0 home defeat against Eastbourne, the capital outfit have bounced back to defeat Salisbury (2-1) and Hampton (1-0) in their previous two games.
“You have to acknowledge that in some people’s minds around other clubs, the narrative was that we were dead and buried at Christmas,” Macpherson said . “I took no notice of the stuff on social media and I dare say, none of our supporters did either.”
Enfield are currently five points clear of Welling and St Albans, with those two clubs currently in 22nd and 21st eyeing up Macpherson’s charges and Salisbury as the teams that they want to catch and overtake.
“The fact that we are five points ahead of the two teams below us can quickly be eradicated, given they both have a game in hand,” he added. “Character is an often used cliché in football but when you have that, there’s more than a fighting chance.”
Last Time We Met
City’s first ever encounter with the Towners saw further history made as a 3-1 victory was the Tinners’ first at the TCS.
