Weston finish their home league fixtures tomorrow, still with hopes of reaching the play-offs.
However, their hopes were dented on Good Friday with a 2-0 reverse away at Chippenham Town.
Prior to that, Scott Bartlett’s side had tasted defeat just once in eight games. Among the results in that impressive run, the Seagulls had defeated fellow promotion hopefuls Maidstone 3-0 at the Gallagher Stadium.
Earlier this calendar year, Bartlett’s charges won at both Boreham Wood and Dorking Wanderers. However, for every impressive win over the top teams, there have also been shock defeats at the hands of struggling teams, with both Salisbury and relegated Welling both triumphing at the Optima Stadium.
Weston know that if they fail to beat City and Maidstone defeat Tonbridge, their promotion hopes are over.
There are a multitude of other permutations though as if the Stones lose to their Kent rivals, the battle for seventh will go down to the final day.
What happens, though, just like Truro City, after winning promotion to Step Two for 2023-24, Weston have shown huge signs of progress this term.
