Brian Chough

Biography

Brian Chough is the feathered enigma, undisputed wing wizard and official mascot of Truro City FC. No one’s quite sure how old Brian is…some say he predates the invention of clotted cream, others reckon he once shared a pint with a young Brunel at a Bodmin pub. What we do know is that Brian began life flapping about the Cornish tin mines, where he mastered the art of doing keepy-uppies using scrunched up pasty wrappers with more flair than a Premier League pro. Legend has it a scout spotted his buttery-footed tekkers during a lunch break and signed him on the spot for Redbeak FC in the ultra-competitive Avian Leagues. He promptly became a fan favourite for his flashy goal celebrations and refusal to do interviews unless bribed with saffron buns.

After breaking goalscoring records all over the world, Brian finally retired from playing in March 2025 and immediately signed terms to become Truro’s mascot on a permanent transfer, for an undisclosed fee.

Off the pitch, Brian’s a bit of a Cornish cult hero. He once caused a match delay after dive-bombing the opposing manager’s hat, mistaking it for a particularly aggressive seagull. His halftime antics include skywriting motivational slogans like “Giss on, me ansom!” and performing interpretive dance routines to the sound of distant sea shanties. When not rallying the fans with his iconic “T-R-U-R-O!” squawk, Brian can be found on the roof of the Fanzone, loudly debating where you can find the best pasty. A bird of mystery, mischief, and mid-air magic; Brian is more than a mascot; he’s a living, cawing Cornish legend.
