Truro City is delighted to announce that midfielder Billy Palfrey has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

A proud Cornishman, Palfrey rejoined City from Devon side Plymouth Parkway during the summer of 2023, but a pelvic injury restricted his appearances in Truro’s first Step Two campaign for four years.

However, after battling back to full fitness, Palfrey played a key role in Truro’s National League South title triumph last term, playing 39 times and scoring three important goals, which included injury-time equalisers against Chippenham Town and Weston-super-Mare.

“I am over the moon as I wasn’t expecting to go full-time with Truro,” Palfrey told trurocity.co.uk. “I couldn’t really say no to full-time football when the opportunity presented itself, but it is because of everyone’s hard work last season that we are in this position.

“I had a year out injured and I found it really tough, but last season, after really getting back into the swing of things, I had a good year personally.

“I wear my heart on my sleeve when I play and I always want to win and that was demonstrated with those late goals I scored. A lot was made of our late goals, but for me, it was just a case of being in the right place at the right time.”

He added: “As someone who has lived in Cornwall all my life, this means so much. Cornwall has been waiting for a team to have success like Truro have. The closest professional club is Plymouth Argyle, where I had to start out.

“To be a proud Cornishman and to go professional with Truro is brilliant and although next season is a journey into the unknown, I think we should be confident.

“The club is going in the right direction and with the togetherness we had last year, coupled with our incredible support, there is no reason why we can’t have another good year.”
