Truro City is delighted to announce the permanent signing of striker Luke Jephcott, on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old joined the Tinners on loan in January from then parent club Newport County, scoring six goals in 17 appearances as City were crowned National League South champions.

Prior to his spell in Wales with the Exiles, Jephcott plied his trade for Scottish outfit St Johnstone and SkyBet League Two side Swindon Town.

He joined the Robins from Plymouth Argyle in 2022 after making over 100 appearances for the Greens, whilst finding the net 37 times.

A Pilgrims debut came as an apprentice in 2018, with a five-month loan spell at Truro City really kickstarting his career during the early part of 2019-20.

Recalled to Home Park in January 2020, Jephcott scored five goals in four starts to claim the EFL Player and Young Player of the Month.

Despite the covid-19 pandemic cutting that particular term short, Argyle were promoted to League 1 with Jephcott returning double-figure goal returns in each of the next two campaigns.

Born in Wales, but raised in Ponsanooth near Falmouth, Jephcott has also gained under-19 and under-21 honours for the country of his birth.

He told trurocity.co.uk: “I came in during the second half of last season and I just wanted to find my love for football, which I definitely found, back home with Truro.

“Being closer to home was great and it helped to be part of a great group of players and working for great staff too.

“I met with the club recently and I was told about the ambitions and the direction it was going, so I was really excited to put pen to paper. Overall, I just can’t wait to get going again as there have been lots of ups and downs since my time at Argyle, which went on behind the scenes which people wouldn’t have known about.

“Since I came back to Truro, I just wanted to play and help the team. To win the league and create history for Truro City is something that I will never forget.”

Jephcott’s return to Truro and Cornwall earlier this year, the area where he spent most of his formative years, was met with universal acclaim from City supporters.

A goal on his second debut away at Hampton & Richmond, coupled with season-defining strikes against Boreham Wood and Worthing further endeared him into the hearts of the TCS faithful.

And that relationship from the pitch to the terraces did not go unnoticed by the player either.

“Although we are in the bottom west part of the country, we have amazing fans,” Jephcott revealed. “We had some long away games last year and we still had fans coming and supporting us. In home games, the fans were the difference, with their support giving us extra encouragement.”

With City playing in the National League for the first time, a player with Jephcott’s footballing CV will be vital for the success of John Askey’s side, with Jephcott admitting that he can’t wait to see what adventures 2025/26 will hold for those of a Truro disposition.

He added: “I like to think I bring a decent amount of experience, playing over 200 professional games and I am hoping that this will hopefully help the team, in some games where we might need it.

“Next year will be a journey into the unknown, but I can’t wait to see what it will bring.”
