As recently revealed by the National League, Truro City will participate in the National League Cup, during the club’s maiden Step One campaign.

The competition involves National League teams (entry is optional) and clubs that participate in the Premier League’s PL2 competition.

For Truro, it will give our players the opportunity to play regularly against the best under-21 teams and players from both the Premier League and English Football League.

Secondly, the Tinners will face competitive matches against some of the most famous names in English football, for the very first time.

National League Cup Format

The National League Cup is a 32-team midweek competition, consisting of a group stage (four groups of eight), with the two best-placed teams in each group advancing to a knock-out stage to determine the winner.

All National League teams will play matches at home, with Premier League and EFL teams always playing away. The National League teams will keep 100 per cent of any gate revenue generated for these fixtures.

Who Will Truro Face?

City have been placed in Group C alongside Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham, Southampton, West Ham United, Aldershot Town, Sutton United and Woking.

Three of Truro’s group opponents are current Premier League clubs with Southampton competing at English football’s top table last term too. For 2025/26, the Saints will play in the Championship, but are hotly tipped for an instant return to the top flight.

When will games be played?

Match round 1 – 12/13 August
Match round 2 – 16/17 September
Match round 3 – 21/22 October
Match round 4 – 25/26 November
