Assistant boss Stewart Yetton is fully aware of the potential rewards for his Truro City side, if they can defeat Altrincham tomorrow on home soil – 3.00pm.
The Tinners, who currently find themselves occupying second bottom in the National League standings, could pull themselves out of the relegation zone with a maximum haul against the managerless Robins, if other results also going City’s way.
Crucially, three points would also cut the bottom four’s deficit to Alty, who are 19th in the table with 17 points.
And also for City, it would be the perfect way to bounce back after Wednesday’s defeat at Solihull Moors, with the visiting side’s cause not helped by a bizarre red card shown to defender Shaun Donnellan.
“If we can get a positive result on Saturday we could potentially come out of the bottom four,” Yetton told BBC Radio Cornwall.
“I am looking forward to it because after our midweek result, we really want to get back on the horse so to speak.
“We always knew our season could be a couple of steps forward then one backward, but we do need to get better away from home and find the solutions there. We need to improve quickly and consolidate on what has been fairly good home form.”
Despite City’s struggles on the road this term, at the TCS, after a slow start, the side have suffered just one league defeat since the second week in September.
Yetton, 40, says that his side must make the most of teams travelling to the Duchy, whilst revealing that his side were going all out to give the majority of what is expected to be a sell-out crowd ‘something to go home cheering about’.
“It becomes advantageous for us on home games,” he added when asked about the travel opposition sides have to undertake when visiting TR4. “Away teams have to do it just once, while we have to do it every other week. Playing at home has always been really helpful for us because of the new ground and the fans and we are anticipating a bumper crowd against Altrincham.
“We are hoping to give the fans something to go home cheering about.”
The City side who a crowd in excess of 3,000 will cheer on won’t contain Yassine En-Neyah who is ruled out via concussion protocols.
However, Yetton provided a brighter update on Tyler Harvey, with City’s leading scorer from last term out since mid-September with an ankle problem. The National League South Player of the Year from last term is unlikely to feature against Altrincham, but Yetton said the 27-goal hitman from last term’s return to light training this week ‘is a positive’.
“We have Yassine En-Neyah unavailable because he had to have some stitches in a head wound so under concussion protocols he won’t play this weekend,” Yetton revealed, when asked about the overall health of his squad. “He was missing in midweek and nothing changes there.
“We have a couple of niggles from midweek, but that could be tempered by one or two coming back so all of a sudden the numbers are starting to look good for us.
“Tyler Harvey has joined in with training and is getting closer and that is a positive. We expect Yassine to be back next week also but now we have Shaun Donnellan suspended for one game.”
